What is Performance Nutrition?

Performance Nutrition is a science-based approach to nutrition that encourages providing your body with what it needs, when it needs it, in order to optimize performance in life and sport. This is done by choosing real food that enhances the metabolism, encourages improved recovery, and ultimately helps your body work with you, and not against you.

Is this a diet plan?

No, eating for performance is the opposite of a diet. It’s not about restricting calories, it’s about inclusion - adding in an array of whole foods that offer the nutrients our bodies need to perform, recover, and carry us through our next adventure. It’s the idea that the quality of the food that you put into your body, as well as the correct macronutrient ratios for your activity, determines how well your body is able to perform and recover.

How will this affect my body composition?

By eating to perform, we supply our bodies with what it needs, when it needs it. For example, if you’re lifting weights, you’re already supplying the stimulus your body needs to increase muscle. By eating the right portions and macronutrients at the right time, you’ll notice your body composition change over time. You’ll naturally begin to increase strength and muscle, while losing unwanted fat. Your weight may or may not stay the same, because you’re adding on muscle, but you’ll begin to lose inches. And most importantly, your performance will begin to improve, while lessening your risk of injury.
